Noxide Z in San Fran for Gamestop MW2 $5,000 tourney
February 17th, 2010 by EWalk728
So far MW2 has been making big waves in the pool of competitive gaming. Gamebattles, one of the largest online competition sites, has held multiple tournaments with cash prizes for the champions. Now none of the other tournaments have had the large turnout like this one. The tournament I speak of is the Gamestop MW2 1v1 Tournament. For this tournament Gamestop partnered up with GB to start up the beginning ladders for this event. Thousands of players turned out and now we have 16 left. One of which is John “NoXiDe” Monsalve who will be competing at the live event in San Francisco this weekend. Now gamestop is being a real charmer with this tournament because they are flying out the final 16 players and giving them a hotel to stay in for the weekend. The grand prize for this event is $5,000 for the sole champion of the event. So without further adieu we bring you Noxide Z who will be the one man wrecking crew at this event.

It’s Christmas Time
by Bob Lazzar-Atwood.
Put your problems on probation
Run your troubles off the track,
Throw your worries out the window
Get the monkeys off your back.
Silence all your inner critics
With your conscience make amends,
And allow yourself some happiness
It’s Christmas time again!
Call a truce with those who bother you
Let all the fighting cease,
Give your differences a breather
And declare a time of peace,
Don’t let angry feelings taint
The precious time you have to spend,
And allow yourself some happiness
It’s Christmas time again!
Like some cool refreshing water
Or a gentle summer breeze,
Like a fresh bouquet of flowers
Or the smell of autumn leaves,
It’s a banquet for the spirit
Filled with family, food and friends,
So allow yourself some happiness
It’s Christmas time again!

StarCraft II : Editors
November 2nd, 2009 by Praxis
If you are familiar with the OG SC/BW then you remember the editor mode. This mode basically allowed you to edit & create new maps. Many editors were rewarded by having their maps entered as official maps in the MBC Proleagues for StarCraft competitons. Well now you are able to do so much more as Blizzard has expanded the editors capabilities. You will now not only be able to make new maps but you will be able to create new units as well. Then you can price them & sell them on Battle.net. This is a great addition for the SC community. More info can be found in this month’s Game Informer.

Quakecon has hosts yearly Grand Finals in Dallas Texas and attracts the best “Quake” players in the world to their events. This years event was the fist ever Quake Live tournament and it was incredible! After thousands of frags, the finals contained American player (Rapha) and Sweden player (Spart1e) for the prize of $14,000. As the commentators said, no one expected Rapha to be in the finals but Spart1a was a definite. Well, enough talk, the video’s your about to see is how all tournaments should be played!
2009 marked a new era in gaming technology. Slowly, gamers were beginning to understand how quality products such as headphones could give them the advantage they needed while competing at the highest level.
With an already top class reputation for making quality PC headphones, Sennheiser was a company with new aspirations to widen their target market and appeal to the growing number of gamers playing on
consoles as well as continuing to hold their immense reputation for PC gaming equipment.
Sennheiser had first launched a multi-platform headphones in the form of their HD series. These were given exceptional reviews by gamers on all platforms mainly due to the world class Sennheiser sound quality that customers have grown to expect. The only downside of this series of products was that they didn’t have an attached microphones and therefore many gamers reverted to alternatives.
The companies next attempt at a multiplatform gaming headphone came with the highly awaited Sennheiser PC350 range. Although the name may suggest they have been created to satisfy the needs of only the PC gamer, the headphones can also be used with consoles. Upon the creation on these headphones the company’s main motif was to create a pair of multiplatform headphones that not only featured the world renowned sound quality but also had a fully functional microphone. Sennheiser however did not stop there with the PC350’s and using their vast experience have clearly successfully put together a revolutionary pair of headphones capable of satisfying the needs of their entire customer database.
It’s been an eventful start to our time in Type-Z and this week we have had another big breakthrough in terms of acquiring a new sponsor deal. Sennheiser are a company committed to providing top quality headphones and with our team looking to challenge for every major tournament in Europe we have long been looking for a company with an arsenal of products capable of meeting our high expectations.
The team is extremely pleased to finally cement this great partnership which will see Sennheiser providing our team with their outstanding products. We look forward to a long lasting relationship and one that will bring a great deal of success to each and every one of us.
If you do have any queries relating to Sennheiser or any of their products please feel free to check out their website at http://www.sennheisergaming.co.uk/
Type Z Welcome R3dMaGiK and Griffin!
September 9th, 2009 by Tyrrell
Since the European division joined Type Z they have long been busy with acquiring the gaming services of some of the best players on the European scene. In the last few weeks the team has been at it again by recruiting two of the bigger names in gaming here in Europe.
Firstly, I’d like to welcome R3dMaGiK Z to the clan. For those of you who don’t know, Liam has been a long term friend on many of the English players in the team. Back in the days of Perfect Dark Zero and Rainbow Six Vegas he was once apart of the same team as the rest of us enduring vast success however he later decided to leave in order to gain a reputation for himself in both the playing sector as well as in the management field. His achievements range from helping team dignitas assemble one of the greatest console teams they have ever had as well as running the entire console division for another aspiring console team ‘Team infused’. The return to his former team has sparked great interest among the console scene as Type Z prepare for a successful year with the release of Call of Duty : Modern Warfare 2. I think it’s safe to say that this is a great pick-up, an experienced console manager and great individual player helping to strengthen the team in many different areas. Welcome Liam!
Our other new recruit is another familiar face to our European roster. Through a variety of different teams Griffin has been a huge part in winning a vast archive of tournaments and ladders and with an immense reputation across almost ever shooter on the Xbox, Griffin is known as a player who you need to be at your very best to beat. His experience and achievements across all Ghost Recon games where he has been vastly regarded as the greatest European player contemplates both his successful spells on Call of Duty 4 and Rainbow Six : Vegas 2 to give Griffin a phenomenal reputation and one that he will continue to build upon with his new team. A big Type Z welcome to Griffin.
With the addition of these two players we are excited with strengthening our squad once again as we embark upon new challenges in a period we aim to add another bundle of achievements to the Type Z portfolio.
Thanks for reading.

Halo 3
Triggers Down wins MLG Dallas
1st: Triggers Down has won their second Live Competition of the 2009 Season, taking Dallas without dropping a series. TD looked strong throughout the weekend, tossing aside the competition almost effortlessly. While Str8 Rippin faded into a fourth place finish, Triggers Down held off an on-fire Carbon team to bring home first place and $20,000. Congratulations to Heinz, Hysteria, Pistola, and SK on the win!
2nd place: Carbon
Gears of War 2
AmazYn Wins Gears of War 2 Competition at MLG Dallas
1st: Defeating the extremely skilled vVv Less Than Zero in the Losers Bracket Final, AmazYn stepped up into the muck for yet another very long series against the Columbus Champions MbN The Business. Already in a hole 3-1 in map score, AmazYn pulled out all of the stops as they fought a challenging battle that ended up bringing us to an 11th game. Having come from behind and tying the series at 5-5, AmazYn had one more push in store for MbN The Business as they took over River on Prison’s host. Having Calinorth and Skyllus pull off the best performances of their careers definitely helped as AmazYn proved that they are the number one team in Gears of War 2.
2nd place: MBN The Business

GTA IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony is all primed and ready to go. Rockstar has said you can expect to grab the second lot of downloadable content from 29 October. Once again this is an Xbox 360 exclusive, with PS3 punters being kept in the cold.
The Ballad of Gay Tony will see you play as Luis Lopez, working for club impresario Gay Tony. We’re promised that means fighting for loyalty with family friends. Mass Effect has always been touted as a trilogy of games, but it now seems that BioWare is considering extending the franchise beyond what was planned.
Speaking to Gamerzines, BioWare VP Greg Zeschuk said: “We’ve said Mass Effect is supposed to be a trilogy… so you’re going to see at least a third Mass Effect, and even more if everything goes well.”
We loved the first Mass Effect and can’t wait for the sequel, more on which you can find on the Mass Effect 2 Page.
Christina Aguilera injured by Wii
July 16th, 2009 by ShinDeon
Hurt her hand playing a tennis game.
Showbizspy reports that pop superstar Christina Aguilera has been injured playing on her Wii.
The singer, whose hits include Beautiful, Dirrty and Genie in a Bottle, is reported to be a big fan of the Wii, but a recent game of virtual tennis left her with a bruised hand.
“Christina loves her Wii as a fun way to do a little work out,” a source said. “Now she’s a mother, it’s perfect for her.
“On this one occasion she and Joel were in the middle of a particularly heated game of tennis and Christina came off a little worse for wear in a run-in with a table lamp. She has a bruised hand but is more upset that she lost the game!”
Microsoft has announced that Historic Battles DLC will be released for Halo Wars on July 21 priced 800 MS Points.
The new DLC will feature four new multiplayer maps and four Achievements worth a combined 100 gamerscore points.
Barrens (1v1 Map): Difficult terrain channels units into killing zones. The side that controls the Forerunner artefacts will have the advantage.
Blood River (1v1 Map): Secure base locations on nearby cliffs overlook this naturally red-tinged river. The soldiers that fought over its two narrow crossings gave the river its name, which has since taken on a greater meaning.
Glacial Ravine (3v3 Map): A snow-topped mountain range forms a natural barrier that cuts this region in half. Control of the two energy walls at the narrow central pass often determines the outcome of the battle, though clever use of the Sentinel Factories may play a role as well.

Capcom Admits Street Fighter IV has Overpowered Characters
July 14th, 2009 by ShinDeon
GameSpy-By: Bryn Williams
Capcom’s Ryota Niitsuma concedes that two characters from Street Fighter IV are a little too powerful.
Both Sagat and Seth are overpowered according to a report from VideoGamer.com. The site recently hit up Capcom’s assistant producer Ryota Niitsuma, who admitted that the two Street Fighter IV characters “might have turned out a little bit stronger than we expected.”
When we asked Niitsuma, who is currently producing the western version of Wii-exclusive fighting game Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, if, looking back, he felt any Street Fighter IV characters were overpowered, he replied: “Well first of all I might have to apologise! Does he involve being slightly blinded and scarred [laughs]?”
He added: “Yes, Seth and perhaps Sagat might have turned out a little bit stronger than we expected.”
At the end of June, UK pro Ryan Hart won the official Street Fighter IV European Championship in London. He beat Frenchman Alioune Camara in the grand final. Both players picked Sagat.
Niisuma went on to add however that a good player of any character can always beat a good Sagat or Seth player. According to the article, the top three SF4 players in the world don’t use Sagat or Seth.

360 MGS4, next GTAIV DLC topping Microsoft's E3 lineup?
May 24th, 2009 by ShinDeon
What we heard: With the retirement of the infamous “Surfer Girl” last May, game news addicts have been searching for another leak-happy industry insider. They may have found one in Game Fork, the nom de tweet of someone claiming to be a well-placed “game journo.” The person also appears to be British, since he claims to have “no links to Sony or SCEE”–Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, based in London–and follows Queen’s English spelling rules.
Beginning last week, Game Fork has been twittering with a vengeance about a single subject: Microsoft’s upcoming press event at the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo. “MS is about to stun E3 with their lineup,” crowed the shadowy figure, who claims to have visited Microsoft’s offices on May 5.
According to the truncated, 140-character-limited posts, Microsoft will use its E3 press gathering, which starts at 10:30 a.m. PDT on June 1, to unveil the following:
-The all-but-confirmed motion-sensing camera controller for the Xbox 360, titled “Xbox Fluid.”
-Metal Gear Solid 4 + Oxide, the long-rumored Xbox 360 port of the best-selling PlayStation 3 stealth actioner and GameSpot’s 2008 Game of the Year. The announcement will be the finale of the presentation, apparently, although the game may the subject of Kojima Productions’ May 18 mystery announcement.
-A top-secret Konami exclusive for the Xbox 360. “NOBODY outside of Kon[ami] has been told what this is,” claims Game Fork. (Emphasis in the original.)
Independence Wins CoD:WaW Ball Park Winter Ladder!
May 24th, 2009 by ShinDeon
The Ball Park Call of Duty: World at War Winter 2009 Season came to a spectacular finish this past Friday as the #1 seeded iNDepeNDeNCe defeated Team RusH in a thrilling five-map championship match. The playoffs began on April 6th, and iNDepeNDeNCe out-battled 31 other teams to take home the Championship — not to mention their share of the $5,000 prize pool. Congratulations to iND SiLeNtKiLL and the rest of iND! Here’s a brief recap of their incredible season.
Independence finished the regular season in first place with a record of 216 wins and 31 losses. The 216 wins were the second most on the ladder, and good enough for 7,510 XP — over 2,000 XP more than second place Nobody Left Behind. They entered the playoffs on a 13 game winning streak, and at one point in the season won 36 straight matches. Given their regular season domination, it was no question that they were the early playoff favorite.
That domination continued right through the playoffs. Independence did not lose a single map in any of their first three matches: all 3-to-0 wins over Fierce Alliance, J-o-C-o-Gaming, and The PGBK. The #4 seed MoB Gaming was able to win a map, but ultimately lost the match 3-1. Even Team FeaR, a veteran squad who also had a strong season, was defeated by a 3-0 score in the semi-finals.

ShadowKon, Dragon, V8 & Carnage have been brought out by their good friend and retired player ShinDe0n (leader) who can’t make it to the event to coach them with his smart tactics but early this week the players showed that they can handle themselves against a MLG pro team. On the GameBattles ladder Type-Z: GOW2 team went up against old school rivalry Pro Gears of War 1 team “vBi” known as “zYn Gaming” and Type-Z defeated them 5-1 on zYn (vBi) home server with ease and taking vBi out 2 games to 0. It’s still early to say Type-Z new GOW2 players will be pros but the boys are going to try their best to perform great at WCG NYC. Type-Z players are very excited and hope their practice pays off at this event. Wish them luck
